About Andreas Mendel

Andreas Mendel, is principal oboe of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Austria. He was born in Hannover and studied with Peter Kiggen, Professor Jochen Müller-Brincken & Prof. Michael Niesemann in Würzburg and Professor Emanuel Abbühl in Mannheim.

Mendel guests with numerous orchestras, including the Deutsches Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, Kammerorchester Basel, Hamburger Staatsoper, Camerata Salzburg and Münchner Rundfunkorchester. He has worked with many renowned conductors, including Marc Minkowski, Christopher Hogwood, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Dennis Russell Davies and Sir John Eliot Gardiner.

Alongside his work as an orchestral musician, Mendel dedicates much of his time to chamber music, gives regular masterclasses at home and abroad and coaches on various chamber music courses.

Although the Master Edition has only just been published, Andreas Mendel has already been invited by various institutions (Anton Bruckner University, Linz / Upper Austrian Music School Association) to give lectures on his books and in particular on the subject: Air-flow & Support.
